Bank of America
I'm Indian and like any other Indian, opening a new Bank Account is an ordeal to cherish, some sort of a moment to remember if you can get one. You need those documents, scanned, photocopied with attested signatures and someone who knows you in that same bank with a 'reputable' account. I've always hated opening bank accounts.
Well, yesterday, I wanted to try and see if I can open an account with the Bank of America, figure out what documents I need, how many days, how many photocopies. But, as I walked in, seated and talked, I needed nothing more than two Identification - Passport and my Indian Driver's license. That's it. No Photocopies, no attested paperworks, no known account holder. A nice and sweet lady attended everything for me, stood in the line to help me deposit the initial $50 (Checking and Savings). She even came out to the ATM with me to activate my card, teach me to Deposit Cash at the ATM and ended with a handshake, and the cheeky kissy bye-bye, "Welcome to America." All that in just about 30 minutes. I was like, "Wow! This is how go get things done."
